Arsenal Accomplishments
Here is a video clip of a nice corner by Matt M with a very nice finish out of the air by Joey. http://www.tubechop.com/watch/666942

Try outs for the 2012 / 2013 Arsenal Squad will take place on 4/20; 4/27, and 4/30. All at the Kenas Rd fields and all at 6:00-7:30pm
Arsenal Champs at Robert Urban - no goals against
The Arsenal got off to a slow start and missed numerous goal scoring chances against Wyoming Valley. The final score of 3-0 doesnt show how one sided this game was. Next was the Nether Nitros, a good opponent. The game was very back and forth but the Arsenal were the only team to find the net and came away with a 4-0 win. The final game was a winner take all against Baltimore Bays United. A great match here, with many great plays from both sides... all defensive!! A 0-0 tie provided the Arsenal with the Tournament Championship due to zero goals against and the two bonus points for a shut out.

Arsenal Champs at March Into Cups
The March into Cups was finally held in March, not June. The Arsenal started off with a 2-2 tie verse Buckingham. Next was the Lower Merion Netrippers. The Arsenal closed out that game with a 6-0 victory. Nect up was Wyoming Valley. They too fell to the Arsenal 4-0. The goals scored were the tie breaker needed to clain first place over Buckingham.

Arsenal Champs Indoor Champs at YSC, U12 Fisrt Session, U13 Second Session
The Arsenal went undefeated in the First session of U12. For the second session we played up to U13 and had great success. A 10-1-1 record against the older group was tremendous. Some very physical play that the boys were up to the task for.

Arsenal Champs at Western Lehigh

The Arsenal traveled back up to the Lehigh Valley seeking another tournament victory for the Columbus Weekend. First on the schedule was Haverford Black Hawks. Not much of a challenge resulted in a 6-1 win for the Arsenal. Next up was the host Western Lehigh Rampage. The small fields and terrible officiating made this a dreadful game.... two PK's for handball in the box(one for each team) led to a 2-2 tie. Sundays first game was against Massapequa Sharks from NY. A quick start for the Arsenal allowed for us to move players around and enjoy the game some, final was 6-2. This made the finals a rematch against the Western Lehigh Rampage. After waiting 7 hours between games, unreal, the teams met back on the narrow pitch. We made some tactical changes to take away the one strong point they had in their style of play and dominated the finals from start to finish. This was more like the attacking style of the Arsenal players. A convincing 7-0 win brings home the title for the Arsenal. Great job boys.

Arsenal Champs at Lehigh Valley's Lou Ramos

The Arsenal competed in the Lou Ramos Tournament in Lehigh Valley. We played some pretty good soccer this weekend and were rewarded for it. The first game was against the Berks Rage Celtic. All guns were firing for the Arsenal and resulted in a 7-1 victory. Next was a very physical team from NJ, the Parsippany Crew. We came out slow but warmed up in the second half. A very good win by a 3-0 score. The Southampton Surge was next on the schedule. A win would put us in the Finals for the group. A quick start and continued pressure provided a 5-0 win. The final would be against another NJ team, Morris United STA Celtic. They were a great match for us. We poured on the pressure the entire game. The had their own chances, but neither team was able to capitalize. The game would be tied at the end of regulation on two hand ball in the box PK's. Overtime would not be as close. The boys must not have wanted to go to a PK shoot out. In the two five minute OT periods we scored three more goals and claimed the title 4-1. Well done boys, way to make the parents sweat it out.

Arsenal Take CRUSA Title

The Arsenal win their first tournament of the 2011-2012 Season at Council Rock. They defeated the Westmont Heat first 2-0. Next was the host FC Bucks Lightning, Arsenal come out on top 2-1. The last game was against Bolton FC fron NJ... these kids were bigger and faster, more physical. The Arsenal hung well but came up short in the end 4-2. Well when everyone was a little down about coming in second place something was discovered about the Bolton Team. They had registered in the wrong bracket. They should have been in the U-13 group so they were disqualified. This gave the Arsenal the Tournament Victory. A little unusual, but a good start anyway.

ARSENAL STATE CUP FINALISTS

The Arsenal participated in the U-11 Boys State Cup 11v11 group during the Spring. They played a round robin group against four other teams to see who would play in the State Finals. They defeated all four opponents...Warrington Destroyers 4-0, Ukrainian Thunder 3-1, V/E Shooters 2-0, and Upper Makefield White 2-0. This put the Arsenal into the finals against Upper Makefield Red. A great game was had by both with the Upper Makefield Red side getting the better of us by a score 3-1. Great job boys, something to build on!!

Arsenal Win both boards and touchline groups in the second session of indoor at YSC going undefeated in both.

Arsenal Win Moorestown Labor Day Tournament.

The Arsenal made their first trip to NJ a successful one. We opened the competition against a decent team from Hainesport NJ. We controlled the game from whistle to whistle and posted a 4-0 win. Up next was the Delran Avengers. This is a physical team that put up a good fight for a while. We eventually out possessed them and took advantage of our skill level. Final score was 3-0 Arsenal. The final game was against the Cherry Hill FC Vipers. They came out looking to take the Championship from us. A back and forth first half and beginning of the second saw the score at 2-2. About midway through the second half the Arsenal decided to take charge. Final score was 5-3 in favor of the Champions, Montgomery Arsenal. Great way to close out the preseason boys. Two first place wins and a second place finish out of three tournaments. Keep up the great work.

Arsenal Repeat Champions at Battle at Hilltop
.

The Arsenal recently took first place in the Top Division at the Battle at Hilltop Tournament. This was an 8v8 tournament so we were missing some fire power but were still able to reach our goal. The first three short games were used to seed the teams and the Arsenal were the only team of the 12 teams to win all three games. The scores were 3-1 against Marple Newtown, 3-1 vs Lower Merion Sabertooth Rats, and 3-0 vs Westmont Heat. This gave us the overall top seed in the goup. The next game in the Championship round was another against the #4 seed Westmont Heat. This was a very good game with us coming out on top 1-0. Next was the very strong Lower Merion Denali team. We were determined to gain the victory in this back and forth game. The final score was Arsenal 2- Denali 1. With the results from the other games this gave us the tournament Championship despite the final games results. I think the boys knew this and they came out very relaxed against the Nether Providence Nitros. We ended up on the short end in this game 3-1 but still celebrated like Champions, again!!. To make this victory even sweeter the Montgomery Aliens also won their group in the tournament. Both U-11 Montgomery teams took first place at the tournament. Great job boys

Arsenal take second at CRUSA Tournament
.
The Arsenal started the U-11 season on a decent foot. The first game was a 3-1 win against a very good Howell NJ team. Next was a back and forth game against the host FC Bucks Lightning. This game ended in a 3-3 tie and could have gone either way. The third game would be against a very tough opponent in the Upper Makefield Patriots Red. The last time we played them they sqweeked out a 3-2 win at the Hempfield tournament. This was not going to be the same type of game. We came out and played hard for the first 13 minutes, then we seemed to loose any stamina we had at this point in the season. The Red were playing very well and made us pay for it. Final 6-0 win for them. The boys were still rewarded with a second place finish for the group.

Members of the Arsenal take part in the DJ Farrar 3v3 tournament.

Four players from the Arsenal were able to take first place in the inaugural DJ Farrar Memorial 3v3 Soccerfest. The winning group was Danny Boyle, Chris Edling, Tom Price, and Luke Godzieba. Another group to include Aidan Jerome, Jimmy Boccella, Jordan Cordi, and Matt Gaul finished in third place. Well done boys.

Spring League Update

The Arsenal completed the 11v11 "A" group of the Rock Spring League undefeated. Hulmeville was our last opponent and they were able to score the only goal against us in the 6 games we played. Not bad boys, 6 games, 6 wins, only one goal scored against us. With the make shift lineups due to baseball and other conflicts, you guys came through with some great play.
http://www.crusa.net/RockSpringLeague/418499.html

You have to watch this video with your child. This video is of some of the worst misses ever. When we see our little 9 and 10 year olds miss from inside the six, think of this video. I can happen to anyone. These are all professionals from some of the best teams in the world, its not as easy as it looks to score on an empty net. The background music is great, sets the mood for these poor players. Try not to laugh or cry too much.

The Arsenal finished the fall season with a very impressive showing at the Deep Run Turkey Day Tournament. They started the tournament with a 5-0 win over the Plymouth Rock. Goals scored by Aidan (2), Danny, Luke G, and Matt. This was the same team that we defeated last year to win the ICSL Division crown. Next up was YMS, and they gave us a pretty good game. Final score 3-2 with goals scored by Aidan, Chris. and Harrison. The first game on Saturday was against Upper Moreland. If we win this we go to the Championship later in the day. The Arsenal were going to finish this tournament as strong as they started, a 4-0 victory sealed the deal. Goals were score by Aidan (2), Chris, and Luke G. This set us up for the Championship game against the host team, Deep Run Force. In 6 tournaments this fall we have played Deep Run now 5 times, twice in the Championship game. We came out strong and put the first goal in off a corner kick. Luke G sent one in that the goalie bobbled around and Aidan knocked it out of the air with the outside of his foot and put it behind the keeper. We never looked back from that point. Harrison, Luke G and Jordan added goals to bring the final score to 4-0. This was the third shutout for the team in the tournament. Luke M, Vincent, Brett, and Matt all played some great goalie. The amount of shots they faced were minimal thanks to the great defense led by Jimmy, Danny, Joey and Chris. This was a great way to end the fall outdoor season. A final record of 30 wins 5 losses and 1 tie. 131 goals scored average of 3.62 per game, 32 goals against average of .88 goals per game, with a total of 19 shutouts Throw in 5 tournament Championships, a League Second Place, and a Third place tournament finish. That is something to be proud of boys. Lets get ready for some indoor soccer!!!

Current ICSL Season Summary

Wins - 7 Losses - 2 Ties - 1

11-15 - The final game of the ICSL season was a make up against the Fox Chase Rampage. This was supposed to be played at their place but they could not provide a field so we played at Hennings as the away team. The field was in very good condition and the weather was outstanding. The game was a very hard fought game with both teams putting alot of pressure on the other team. The lone goal of the game came off a shot from Luke G on the right side to the far post that Aidan followed up and tapped in the rebound. The boys closed out the season with a great team effort and another shut out.

11-14 - Our second game against Phila Celtic did not provide the results we were looking for. We played on a field that was in terrible condition, and too small for this level of play. We can not use that as much of an excuse because both teams had the same conditions to deal with and Celtic did what they had to do. A final score of 4-0 sealed the Championship for them and second place for the Arsenal. A great job boys, some thing to be proud of.

11-7 - The Arsenal made the long trip to play the Ukrainian Thunder today....about 5 minutes for most of us. By the time it took us to get there, we were up 2-0. The boys came out playing at a great speed and with lots of excitement. The first goal was on a nice pass from Matt to Aidan who placed it by the keeper. The second goal was a role reversal as Aidan played a ball to Matt who found the net. Chris was then able to send a nice pass forward to Luke M who knew what to do with it. Matt continued to be involved in the scoring as he assisted on the next goal with a pass out to Luke G. This was a fabulous goal that Luke hit from the right side on a full volley and blasted it just under the cross bar. Luke M then had a great individual effort taking a short goal kick back in to the box and finding the side net at the far post. A strong first half with a 5-0 lead. Vincent made several good saves to include stopping a PK. We picked up in the second half right where we were as the first half ended. Harrison played a great ball out to the left wing where Brett was able to strike a ball the keeper could not handle. The usual defenders even got in to the scoring column today. Danny was having some fun playin center mid and sent a nice pass out to Jimmy on the right corner of the box. Jimmy took a dribble then a great strike on the ball and found pay dirt. The last goal for the day came on a assist from Aidan that found the speedy Luke M who placed a nice shot to the corner away from the keeper. This gave Luke M a hat trick for the day and it was the 100th goal for the season for the Arsenal, not bad for 26 games. It was quite a day for the Arsenal, 8-0 win, six players scoring goals, hitting the century mark in goals, airplanes both over head and on the field (Luke G), and then Matt being persued by an over anxious fan. It was a good game and the teams fourth straight shut out.

11-1 - Another game played on a wet field. This was no where near as bad as yesterday, but much better than playing in December. We finally got to play a game against Fox Chase after two rain outs. We opened the scoring with a nice long pass from Danny to Luke M. He then used his speed to beat the defender and put the first one in the net. We had several great shots that struck the cross bar or their keeper made good saves on. Jordan, Brett, Aidan, and Luke G had many great chances but came up short. Later in the first half Chris was able to get a nice pass to Aidan who was not going to miss this time. This was the end of the scoring for the first half. We came out in the second half with more of the same pressure. Again not being able to finish completely but enough to wear down the Rampage. A terriffic individual effor by Matt would conclude the scoring. He was in the left corner of the field battling with one, then two defensive players. He made a series of moves and used his body to get a favorable position and let a low shot / pass go towards the far post. It found is way across the box and struck the inside of the post and bounced in to the goal. Could not have drawn it up any better if I tried. A great end t the game and our third straight shutout win. Danny, Jimmy, Jordan, Joey, Harrison, Matt and Vincent provided a tremendous team defense. Great work boys, three more to go.

10-31 - Halloween was definitely a treat for us this year. We traveled to Council Rock to play the Lightning on a very messy field. The ground was like some melted candy the kids left in their pockets over night. I told the boys we needed to come out quick and get something going early to set the tone for the game. As usual, they did as was asked of them and it worked out for our benefit. Under two minutes into the game we head down towards their goal and send a pass towards the corner of the box. Their keeper comes sliding out and Brett goes sliding in to deflect the ball from the keep. The ball finds Aidan at his foot and he turns and sends it gently in to the open goal. Exact time was 1:40 into the game, a great way to start. This was the only goal of the game. Both teams had to deal with less than favorable conditions and it showed. A final score of 1-0 is still another victory for the Arsenal and a season sweep of the Lightning. Last week the lightning beat Phila Celtic 2-1 and puts us in position to win the last four games and we will win the division. Lets put it together guys and meet the goal we set at the beginning of the season.

10-24 - For the third time this season we played against the Hulmeville Golden Strikers. It appeared 3 was going to be the number of the day. The third time we played, our third win in ICSL, 3-0 score, and 3 goals for Aidan. The first goal was a second effort goal early in the game. Luke G took a nice shot at goal and Aidan put away the rebound. In the second half we controlled the game completely. The second goal was all Aidan. He took a goal kick out of the air with his right foot, took a few dribbles then blasted one over the keepers head on under the cross bar to the far post. More pressure gave more scoring chances. The final goal came as a result of a nice turn around shot from Brett that struck the right post high near the corner and bounced back out to Aidan and he slid it past the keeper to close out the scoring. Great game boys.

10-3 - Time to get back on the right track. The Ukrainian Thunder were next on the ICSL schedule and we were back to business. The first goal was scored early on a nice pass from Joey to Aidan who went in one on one against the keeper. A little touch as the keeper came out and we were on the board 1-0. We had a break down on a corner kick and they answered right back with a very nice volley of the corner kick. The first half ended with a score of 1-1. The second half was all Arsenal. We applied a ton of offensive pressure, Jordan was making attacking runs all day long, but just could not get one to go in. Danny was able to control a ball in the center of the field and made a great diagonal pass through two defenders that Aidan was able to run on to. Aidan again went in one on one with the goalie and notched his second of the game. The next two goals were results of good shots on goal and great follow up play. Matt took a great shot from the right corner of the 18 to the far post and Brett was there to knock in the rebound. The last goal was from more hard work by Jordan. Jordan sends a great shot / pass towards goal and Luke M was there to place it behind the keeper. Everyone played a great game today. Good goaltending from Luke M and Vincent, great defense by Jimmy, and Danny. Our midfielders controlled the tempo and flow of the entire game. Final score, 4-1 in favor of the Arsenal. Lets keep it up in the UJSL Tournament next weekend.

9-26 - The Phila SC Celtic came to town this past weekend. This was a great game between two strong teams. The scoring opened up with the Arsenal getting a goal in the first half. Danny was able to put a direct kick from outside the box past the Celtic keeper. We held the 1-0 lead into the second half but the Celtic were able to tie it up with about 10 minutes to go. Some tough pressure was applied by the Celtic and with two minutes left they were able to get the lead. They scored on a nice header from a corner kick, impressive for some 9 year olds. It was a pretty goal, just not good that it was against us. This gives the Arsenal their first loss in the division and keeps Celtic as the last unbeaten team. We will meet again later in the season.

9-13 - We played Council Rock Lightning at home and came out with the Guns a blazin. Aidan made a few scissor moves on a defender then went in and scored the first goal with the new Arsenal ball. A short time later Luke G made a nice run down the right side and blasted a shot the keeper was unable to stop. The second half was more of the same pressure by the Arsenal. Chris took the ball down the middle of the field with a defender right with him. Just when it looked like the defender was going to clear the ball, Chris lunged forward and struck the ball past the keeper. It was a very nice solo effort by Chris. The last goal came off a corner kick. Jordan struck a nice ball that Harrison controlled out of the air then quickly placed a nice left foot shoot low to the post. A 4-2 final doesn't show the way we dominated the game.

9-12 - Our first game of the season was against Hulmeville Golden Strikers. The small field and small goals really hurt our fast style of play. The size of the field took away the crosses and changing of the point of attack that the boys have become so good at. The field conditions contributed to a sloppy game. We were able to finally find the net with about 3 seconds left in the game and got out with a 1-1 tie. Jordan scored off of a pass from Aidan, who received a good pass from Joey. It was a nice combo play to the far post.

The Arsenal went down to the United Juniors / MSSL tournament for Columbus weekend to defend their title from last year. Last year was a 4-0-0 weekend with 15 goals scored and 3 goals against in the "A" Division. That is a tough line to beat, now to find out if they were able to better it this year and repeat as Champions. The first game was agaist the Marlton Lightning from NJ. We came out ready to play and scored 38 seconds into the game, final score 6-0. Goals were scored by Danny, Jimmy, Joey, Luke M, Luke G and Jordan. Next on the list was the Phila Dragons and they would not fair much better. We beat them to the ball, we out played them, but they did win the contest of loudest coach. Goals by Luke G and Chris were all we needed to win this one 2-0. Vincent played some great goalie for us this game. Luke G had two goals today both on direct kicks. This put us in the semi finals against the Warrington Destroyers. This game belonged to Jordan and the Arsenal. Great team passing and using open space with our team speed was a great combination. Harrison was a force in the center of the field and helped feed the attack. Jordan grabbed a hat trick, Chris also notched another score and the Arsenal advanced to the finals with a 4-1 victory. The finals were going to be a continuation of our tie game earlier in the ICSL season with Hulmeville. This was not going to be a tie, someone had to win and they would be crowned Champions. The Hulmeville team received a gift from the referee in the way of a PK that was a ridiculous call. Anyway, they converted and were ahead early in the game. The Arsenal were on a mission and this was just a speed bump in the road for them to get past. A short time later Matt gave Jordan a great pass and Jordan did the rest, blasting a shot past the keeper. Minutes later Brett lofted a ball that Luke G controlled and went in on the keeper. He also found the back of the net and put the Arsenal ahead to stay. The second half was more of the same offensive pressure by the Arsenal. Jordan connected with a pass to Chris who then had a beautiful chip shot over the keeper and just under the cross bar for a score to make it 3-1. The last nail in the coffin was a shot from Chris that Aidan followed up and knocked in the rebound for a 4-1 final score. Final tally for the weekend, 4-0-0 and 16 goals scored with only 2 against, better than last year. An effort to be very proud of guys. All weekend long we had great defense, timely scoring, and terrific goal keeping. Luke M made some great saves in the final and kept the Arsenal in position to win. Great job boys.

The Arsenal are off to a great start in 2009. They have compiled a record of 13-1-0 so far in 3 touraments. This past weekend they competed in the Deep Run Labor Day Tournament. The first game was again versus the Deep Run Force. The Arsenal were able to score several times while keeping the Force off the board, a 4-0 victory. Second game was against the Buckingham Blast. We were able to put three goals in the net during the first half and secured a 3-0 win. Sunday we continued our quest against the Westmont Dragons. The boys applied tremendous offensive pressure during the first half and jumped out to a 5-0 lead. The second half was much of the same, final was 8-0. Luke G. was able to notch a hat trick on his birthday in this game. This set up the final game against the Pottsgrove Pirates as a winner take all game. With their goal in sight, the Arsenal take charge from the first to the final whistle. They scored a pair of goals in each half and walked off with a 4-0 win and another first place finish. The boys were able to get four wins and four shut outs for the tournament. Three for three in the preseason tournaments was a tremendous accomplishment for this group of boys, something they should be very proud of.

The Arsenal had a very good tournament at the Westmont Battle at Hilltop. This format allows for alot of games and you need to be quick out of the gate or you will get left behind. With the 1st round games only 24 minutes it can sometimes be first to score wins. Our first game was against the Lower Merion Net Rippers. We Jumped out to a 2-0 lead early. LMSC kept good pressure on us and were able to get one in to the back of the net. We were able to control the rest of the game and came away with a 2-1 win. Next was a familiar foe in the Deep Run Force. This was a hard fought game that went back and forth down the field. The Arsenal were able to score the games only goal for the 1-0 victory. The last short game was against the Berks Soccer Academy Rage. They were a good team that was applying alot of pressure. The Arsenal were able to weather the storm and come away with a 2-0 win. This gave the Arsenal the top overall seed as the only team with three wins in three games. The first game of the second round was against the host Westmont Heat. They are a very good team that we matched up very well against. The speed of the game was tremendous. The Arsenal were able to get on the board early for a 1-0 lead. At about the 11 minute mark the lighting rolled in and caused the game to be suspended and would only be completed if needed after the last game was played in the group. Our first game on Sunday was against the North Union Stingrays. This was a game that went back and forth with both teams playing great defense and not getting alot of scoring chances. It seemed every time we were getting ready for a shot there were two of their players flying in front of us and blocking our shots. The only goal of the game was one scored against us. This put us in a tough spot for the tournament. We needed a win and some help in the other game to have shot at the finals. Our next game was against the Lower Merion Sabertooth Rats. This teams has a lot of great foot skills and team work. They will be a successful team as they continue to grow. We were able to find the net a few times, including 2 penalty kicks, and came away with a 4-0 win. The Westmont and North Union game ended in a tie. This was perfect for us to still have a chance at the title. This forced us to finish the suspended game in a winner take all game against Westmont . A tie would mean Westmont wins and we end up in third place. The Arsenal were going to complete their goal of winning the Championship and no one could stop them. We came out with a lot of pressure and scoring chances and were able to put another goal in making it now 2-0 in our favor. The Heat were able to find the net in the later part of the game cutting our lead back to one. We responded with another goal just a few mintutes later. We continued to pressure them and were able to close out the tournament with another victory. This was a Championship the boys played their hearts out for and deserved everything they worked so hard for. A great effort by all in some very hot and humid conditions. Next is the Deep Run Labor Day weekend tournament.

The new U-10 Arsenal came out with all systems firing for their first tournament. The first game was against a familiar foe in the Deep Run Force. The Arsenal took control of the game early and ended up with an 8-0 victory. The second game was against the Westmont United Attack. Again the Arsenal were very impressive with the way they controlled the game, final score 10-0. Sunday we played the host Harleysville Mustangs. The Arsenal were still putting a lot of pressure on the opponents goal and came away with a 5-1 victory. This put us in the Finals against Deep Run. The game was very exiting from the beginning. The play was back and forth for a while until the Arsenal were able to break the ice. At the end of the game it was a 5-1 Arsenal win, claiming the title of 2009 Champions of the Rob Schaefer Tournament. During the weekend every player on the team score atleast one goal and eight players had two or more. It was a complete team effort and a pleasure to coach.

The Arsenal competed in the Buckingham Spring into Cups tournament on March 7th. It was a 3 game in one day tournament. Our first game was against the Warrington Destroyers. The boys came out of the gate full throttle and posted a 4-0 victory. The second game was against the host Buckingham Blast. Another solid effort from all the boys resulted in a 5-1 win. This made the 3rd game of the day a winner take all situation against a very good Deep Run Force team. We have had some very good battles lately with Deep Run coming out on top our last meeting. This was not going to be the case today. The Arsenal came out strong and never looked back. As the game ran its course the Arsenal ended up with a 4-0 victory and were crowned the Champs. Great day of soccer boys.

The Arsenal completed the Inter County fall/winter season undefeated (8-0-2) and were crowned Division Champs. The final game against Plymouth was a winner take all scenario. The Arsenal dominated the game from start to finish. They scored the first goal off a direct kick from just outside the 18 by Danny. He made everyone think he was kicking directly at goal but instead made a great pass to Matt on the far side. When the pass came to him, Matt did not hesitate and struck a great one timer that beat the goalie back to the other post. Later in the half Brett was going in one on one with the goalie and was taken down in the box. The PK was whistled and Brett nailed it to the back of the net. The keeper was completely helpless. This put the Arsenal ahead 2-0. Aidan, Andrew and Jordan continued to press the Plymouth defense with a lot of quality shots. Nick, Joey and Luke all had several chances at goal and continued keeping very active on the attack. Brian and Jimmy were like the Steel Curtain on the defense. That closed out the scoring for the first half. The Arsenal should have had about 6 goals in the half. Shane played a very good first half in goal. The second half was more of the same, we controlled the game from end to end with out putting any more in the net. Shane was all over the field giving his best and trying to make something happen. Plymouth scored a goal late in the half making it 2-1. They really started to battle at this point. If the games ends in a tie, Plymouth would win the season title on points. As time ticked away it looked more and more like the Arsenal had put this in the bag. Then in the 26th minute of a 25 minute half, the ref called a hand ball in the box on Danny, who was 3 feet out of the box! This kick would possible be the season winner for Plymouth. Matt was in goal and was ready for the challenge. The fans were going crazy on both sides of the pitch. The Plymouth player approached the ball and struck one that went right to Matt. He made a season saving stop on a PK. After another minute or so of play... The ref blew his whistle one last time for the season. It was over, the Arsenal were the Champs with a tough fought 2-1 win!! As you can see by the words above, it was a great "TEAM" effort. It was a very exciting game and a great finish to their first season as a travel team. 2008 was a great year: League Champs, Three Tournament Titles, and lots of great memories. Thanks boys, keep up the great work.

The Arsenal competed in the EPYSA Indoor Challenge Cup on 1/31/09. They had victories of 2-0 against Cantolao S.C., 8-1 against Carlisle Area Soccer, and 10-1 against Wyoming Valley Soccer. This put the team into the finals against the Lower Merion Legacy. A hard fought game that went back and forth right down to the last seconds. Unfortunately the Arsenal came out on the short end this time. A heartbreaker of a loss, 3-4, with Lower Merion scoring the final goal with 17 seconds left in the game. An effort to be very proud of boys, great job.
